Sedlescombe

BANK HOLIDAY: Here we go again into another Bank holiday weekend, a time to get together with family and friends so let us hope that the weather holds and that everyone is able to enjoy the freedom of living in this beautiful area.

SPRING FAYRE ON THE GREEN: Ralph Dellow one of the main organisers writes: We were very lucky to have such fine weather; it was a glorious day. The committee are very grateful for the help we received from so many of the people of Sedlescombe, it is a testament to the kindness of the residents of the Village. We try to restore some of the traditions that were once part of village life. The maypole is always part of this and this year we introduced a pillory which seemed to delight children who were able to throw wet sponges at their chosen victim. Florence, the reader of tarot cards offered to read the future and I noticed that most people came away with a smile. We have tried to introduce some different children’s and adult games, one being a kind of golf call a ‘ mouse game’ it seemed to do well. As usual we had many stalls and of course super refreshments prepared by the ladies on the day. We will send £500 to St Michaels Hospice and in due time donations to other organisations in the village. Once more thank you to all those who helped us including the proprietors of the Brickwall Hotel, the Queens Head, Carr Taylor vineyard and Jonathan and Heather Vinehall.
