TABLE TOP SALE: This Saturday April 25 , try not to miss the table top sale in the village hall, open to the public from 1pm entrance by donation. There are still some tables unwanted items and give them a new home. Please call Sylvia on 01424 870688. Tea and coffee will be available, come and find a bargain and catch up with friends old and new. All funds raised in aid of St John the Baptist church.

ST JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH CHURCH: Many of you will have noticed that the work has now started at the Parish Church, and that services at the moment are being held at Sedlescombe Primary school. This Sunday April, Parish Eucharist is at 10.30am in the school hall and following this there will be the annual Parochial Parish Council meeting. During the meeting, reports will be given on the work taking place and the monies involved. The Friends of the Church will also be presenting a contribution of £45,000 towards the work.

PARISH COUNCIL ANNUAL ASSEMBLY: This will be held in the village hall, doors will be open from 6.30 with the meeting at 7.00 pm on Tuesday April 28 2015. There will be many stalls from local businesses and groups from around the village. During the evening there will also be a draw for attendees and a draw for the volunteers who do various jobs in the village as a thank you for the work they do saving us all money. COFFEE MORNING: On Thursday May 7, election day, the usual mini market held in the hall will have a new location, there will be a coffee morning in the garden at 2 Forge Cottages, The Green from 10.30am to 12noon. There will be all the usual goods on offer there so Margaret looks forward to your company then.

SPRING FAYRE: Spring Fayre on Saturday May 16. The Pipes and Drums will again open the Fayre followed by the children from the local school dancing around the Maypole. at 1.30 .This will be followed by ‘twirlers’ which is a group of children from the school. ‘Loose Ends’ is a first class group who will play popular music for about one and a half hours finishing with the pipes and drums again and then the raffle will be drawn. It has been arranged for a town crier to open the Fayre. This year we have been able to obtain a pillory for those brave people can poke their heads through to receive a few wet sponges. We do not charge for entry but raffle tickets are on sale in the Post Office.

SEDLESCOMBE PLAYERS: are presenting ‘Allo Allo’ a comedy by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft, to be performed from Tuesday 9th -Saturday 13th June at 7.30pm in Sedlescombe Village Hall. Tickets go on sale from next Monday April 27. £10 for the June 9/10 without supper and £16 for the June 11/12/13 with supper. A bar will be available each evening. To book tickets, ring 01424 718059 or go to our website www.sedlescombeplayers.co.uk. Or book in person on Monday evenings at the hall 7pm before rehearsals. This is a very popular play and should be an hilarious evening. Book early or you might miss it!

OPERA EVENING: Battle & Villages Lions Club are holding an Opera Evening with 3 course dinner on Saturday July 25 at Bannatynes Spa Hotel. Glyndebourne singers Thomasin Tresize and Paul Hopwood will be singing arias and duets from Puccini, Mozart, Verdi, Dvorak and Bizet.
