It seems that we are well and truly in the season of summer fayres, with one on each of the previous two weekends, now we get ready for the Sedlescombe fair and flower show on Saturday July 27 on the Sports field. Preparations are well under way for this with plenty of meetings and organising going on to make the day a success. This year’s attractions will include Hooe Silver Band, K9 obedience dog demonstration, Zumba display, a children’s fancy dress parade run by volunteers from Sedlescombe pre school , Vintage Car parade with the recent winner of the flower princess from Sedlescombe school riding in the first vehicle plus much more along with plenty of refreshments including tea tent run by the WI , beer tent run by the Queen’s Head, barbecue the usual refreshments and side stalls. This year we have also ordered good weather.

Raffle tickets will be on sale prior to the day from village businesses and committee members. All prizes have been donated, dinner for two at the Brickwall Hotel, grocery hamper from Sedlescombe Stores , hair styling at the Clockhouse, Vineyard trails at Carr Taylor and the award winning organic Sedlescombe Vineyard to name a few. I was very lucky to win a prize in the Sedlescombe school raffle last Saturday of three hours gardening and thought what a good idea , if there is anyone in the village who would like to donate time for something as a prize then please contact me details at the end of the column.
