Judy Torrance, Asselton House

Who would have thought we would have snow after the warm spring days of last week, but that is one thing about England the weather is never predictable. Luckily we have our village shop to keep us well supplied at all times of the year and now a new landlord in the Queens Head, who I’m sure will make you very welcome on these cold days.

Lent lunches are continuing on and there is still time to take part. You are invited to go along this Friday, March 15 to 2 Forge cottages, The Green. They will then continue on for the next two weeks as we head towards Easter. Everyone is welcome to attend for a bowl of homemade soup and crusty bread for £2.50 a head. Margaret looks forward to welcoming old friends and new. Money raised this year will be given to Farm Africa, Seaview Homeless Project, and The Door of Hope, a charity run by local friends Diane and Philip Streeter. For any further details please call 870808.

Don’t forget to order your Easter lilies in memory of loved ones to decorate St John the Baptist church for Easter tide. Each flower can be ordered and dedicated to someone for £2 each either by phoning 870688 or 870808 or by picking up an envelope from church. All those remembered will have their names displayed in church over the Easter period. Please return your order to church or to Sylvia Beaney or Margaret Hudson who will then make the necessary arrangements. This is a beautiful way of remembrance and your support is much appreciated.
