Mark Fisher and Tony Wynne, from Sedlescombe, will be taking part in an event at The Muddy Duck, Northiam over the weekend of November 24 and 25 from 11am to 5pm. They are both part of the ‘Artists of the Rother Valley’ who are hosting a Christmas Art Show at this venue. As mentioned last week Sedlescombe School are working hard to fund raise £30,000 for the improvements to the school swimming pool, in order to upgrade the facilities and enable the pool to be more accessible to the local community in particular. The improvements include new communal changing rooms, individual cubicles, toilet and shower facilities, a new safety surface around the pool and new perimeter fencing. Mrs Ham would like to ask all members of the community to fill in a short pool questionnaire for her please, this consists of only four questions so I’m sure we all have the time to complete one of these. If as many people as possible could take one from the post office and return it into the box in the post office or pop it into the school, by November 26, she would be very grateful indeed. This will enable Mrs. Ham and the PTA to understand the ways in which the community would like to use the swimming pool next year in conjunction with the school use of the pool. The information from the questionnaires will also help with any possible grant applications. Thank you very much indeed.

A reminder from school that another way you could help is to continue to vote for the school swimming pool project in the Kent and Sussex ‘Heart of the Community’ competition, boxes for your voting coupons are in the post office and the school. You can also vote by text: text 65100: KS HEART 1052, followed by your name and post code. Please be aware of the cost involved and most importantly use your own phone for this. Thank you very much. Voting finishes at the end of November.

The Friday before last Sedlescombe Societies Association held their AGM at the village hall, it is fair, pardon the pun, to say that it was a sparsely attended event which was surprising considering that this is the group that works to organise the main summer fair on the sports field. All money raised from the day is then distributed to assist village groups and organisations. This year the association also helped run the Jubilee fair on the Green which was advantageous as the main fair was unfortunately cancelled due to the persistent rain around that time. Although limited funds were available, it was still possible to distribute a total of £1265 this year to St Michaels Hospice, Sedlescombe WI, Sedlescombe Sports Association, Sedlescombe Friendship Club, Sedlescombe Neighbourhood Watch and Sedlescombe Youth Club.
