Selsey properties affected by power cut

A power cut has caused disruption in Selsey today (Wednesday, January 20).

The power cut was first reported shortly after 8am, with properties 'in the vicinity of the High Street' affected, according to Selsey Town Council.

In a post on Facebook this morning, a spokesperson said: "SSE have been made aware and are working on the issue.

"Selsey Town Council’s town hall complex is also affected.

"Our phone and computer lines are all down at present, we will let you know when the electricity is back on."

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) apologised for the loss of power supply, which they initially said would be restored by 11.30am.

However, in a message to residents, the company said 'first attempts at getting power restored were unsuccessful'.

The notice added: "We believe this is because of a fault on our network. We're sending a specialist team to assist, but this does mean we'll need to repair the fault which will take longer than the first restoration time we gave you.

"We're very sorry for the delay and promise we're doing everything we can to get your power restored sooner. We'll continue to keep you updated with any new information."

On its website, SSEN said it is aiming to have power restored by 11pm.

The postcodes affected are; PO20 0QD; PO20 0QG; PO20 0QJ; PO20 0RB; PO20 0RD and PO20 9EH.
