Shock as airgun pellet lodges in cat's shoulder

A WEST Chiltington cat rescue volunteer was horrified when one of her cats was shot by someone using an air rifle, shortly before Christmas.Karol Jeffery, who lives at The Juggs, was distraught when black-and-white cat Susie came hobbling home on a Sunday evening.

She explained: "At first we thought she had twisted her paw, but then we saw blood on the floor and realised it was coming from her shoulder.

"We did not know what had happened and because she is fluffy, it was very difficult to see. She kept whimpering and we phoned the vet to say we were on our way.

"It was extremely icy and we had to drive as carefully as possible because Susie was in so much pain and at one point, when she went quiet, we honestly thought we had lost her."
