Shoppers evacuated from Hastings Tesco

Shoppers were evacuated from the Tesco Extra store in Hastings this evening (Tuesday, June 28).

The fire alarms started sounding at around 7.15pm and firefighters were called to the scene.

Mum Jay Brewerton, who was shopping with her three children, said: “The lifts and esclataors were closed down.

“They also evacuated both car parks as everyone was standing there waiting to go back in.”

A spokesperson from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service later confirmed the call was a false alarm.
