Sign of old times

Sam Dennis discovered the fallen wrought iron 'finger' sign post in Little Common Road near her home.

She took it upon herself to repair the unusual old sign, which is missing several of its arms, at her workshop in Burwash.

Now she is appealing for any pictures of the sign or anybody with local knowledge who knows the directions it gave.

Sam said: "Since it came down a couple of the arms have gone missing - people have probably taken them away. We just need to know what it said.

"The sign has always been there it's just that is in need of repair and some love and attention."
