Fancy taking part in a dragonboat festival? then NCH would like to hear from you.

The leading children's charity (formerly National Children's Home) is calling for teams of people to sign up for a day of dragon boat racing at Bewl Water in Kent on Sunday September 14 to raise money for its vital work with the UK's most vulnerable children and young people.

Teams of paddlers will race 250 metres in long, medieval-style boats at the annual Dragon Boat Festival, whilst spectators cheer them on from the picturesque banks of the reservoir.

Each team comprises of 16 paddlers plus a drummer, all aged 16 years or over who have committed to a fundraising target of at least 1500 for NCH.

The charity works directly with vulnerable children, young people and their families who are affected by issues such as poverty, disability, abuse or neglect. It currently runs 500 projects throughout the UK.

NCH Community Fundraiser, Jessica Maybanks, says: "NCH hopes people will see this as a great opportunity to do their bit for a very worthwhile cause, whilst taking part in a fun and invigorating tradition. With a band playing and stalls and games for all ages, it's also a great day out for those who come to cheer the teams on."

It's not too late to sign up to race at this years Dragon Boat Festival or find out more by calling Jessica on 01273 760 130 or visit www.nch.org.uk/dragonboat
