Mitchell Longhurst, 42 of Oakhill Road, plans to join the fifth annual Monster Ski challenge hosted by the Multiple Sclerosis Trust in March, 2014.

“I am doing this as the charity is close to my heart,” said the building company owner whose wife Nicola was diagnosed with MS two years ago.

Mitchell will have to ski 90,000 vertical feet over three exhilarating days.

With determination, he is going to put his best foot forward when up against the varied terrains and deep snow of Chamonix, France.

So far, in just a few weeks the father of two has received £400 but hopes to raise more than £1500 for the charity.

His wife Nicola said: “I am thankful to the MS Trust for having been a great source of information and help.”

Over the past five years, the Monster Ski Challenge has raised more than £385,000.

Skiers have to be prepared to ski 30,000 feet each day from when the lifts open without stopping, except for a brief lunch break, until they close.
