Speaking up at Hastings Music Festival

Charters Ancaster children returned triumphantly from the Hastings Musical Festival last Thursday having won the under-12s choral speaking competition.

They chose two contrasting poems, Bad Sir Brian Botany and Tam Snow.

Children from every class took part, including the youngest in school, and the adjudicator praised the inclusion of an all-age choir.

Their drama teacher Mrs Jo Collishaw commented: "The adjudicator praised the inclusion of an all-age choir and also commended their togetherness, organisation and ability to hold the interest of the audience. To achieve first in their class with special merit was a great reward for all of their hard work".
