Spreading happiness through song

RYE’S Music Well project is setting up a new Singing for Wellbeing group at Tilling Green Community Centre.

Music Well was established by music therapist Liz Butt and has played an important role in Rye in helping children with special needs.

The new group will begin on Tuesday May 22 and run fortnightly through June and July. Meeting from 6.30 – 8pm.

The group is run by Catrina Lafferty who is already well established in Rye running the Tuesday evening Singing for Wellbeing up at Rye Club on alternate weeks from 5.30 – 7pm.

Liz Butt said: “This group has been running since January 2011 and members say it is a great opportunity to have fun, singing for pleasure and to feel better with like minded people. They share songs that members bring and so everyone gets to sing their favourites.

“Everyone is welcome to come and try the new group and indeed any of the other Music Well activities. There is a regular drum circle first Thursday of each month (except July when it is 12th) at 5.15 p.m. at Rye Methodist Church Hall.”
