St Richard's basketball glory

Year 8 and 9 Girls from St Richard's Catholic college have been crowned Rother and Hastings District Basketball Champions.

The team won through to the finals by winning all league matches against other local schools. In semi-finals, they comfortably beat Battle Abbey School 38-22.

The St. Richard's team then met The Grove in the final at Summerfields Sports Centre and beat their opponents 28-18 to become area champions.

Kath Easton, P.E. teacher at St. Richard's, said: "We are very proud of the girls' success. They have played brilliantly as a team and have had a fantastic run of matches. They are deserved winners."

The players from year 8 and year 9 at St. Richard's were Alice MacDonald, Chloe Howe, Issy Burt, Mary Herring, Carolanne Wilson, Carrie Ann Gibbons, Molly Moyse and Ellie Williams.
