Staff at Yorkshire Building Society home-baking

STAFF at Yorkshire Building Society's Bexhill agency M and W Associates invited customers and members of the public to call in at their Devonshire Square offices on Tuesday.

The invitation was to sample some home-baking during a Christmas fun day aimed at raising money for Rising Starz - the Yorkshire's 2008 Christmas fund-raising appeal to provide mobility equipment customised to the needs of individual children through national charity Whizz Kidz.

Staff at the agency staged the home-baked cake sale plus a guess-the-weight-of-the-Christmas-cake competition.

Limited-edition Christmas tree star decorations and mobile phone charms were also on sale in aid of the appeal, which runs until Wednesday, December 31.

All money raised will be matched pound-for-pound by the Yorkshire.

Anita Morley, at M and W, said staff at the agency had been looking forward to getting into the Christmas spirit and adding to Bexhill's festive cheer. "The right wheelchair at the right time can make a world of difference to a disabled child."
