Students' artwork inspired by Hurst Chapel unveiled at college

Artists at Hurstpierpoint College have unveiled a textile hanging designed and created by students there. The work is a triptych, inspired by the Hurst Chapel in a project led by visiting textiles artist Mandy Bangerter and celebrates girls' involvement in college life over the past 20 years, since Hurst became co-educational. The design features photographs of the college's flint walls and patchwork of history in the centre.

The finished piece was unveiled as part of the Hurst Art Scholars Show in the Art School. Local freelance illustrator and former Hurst student, Louise Mulgrew, attended the event to cut the ribbon.

Head of Art, Jo West, said: “This piece is a celebration of everything that our pupils felt represented Hurst.”
