Students take Bognor's regeneration to big screen

Films about the regeneration of Bognor Regis are to be shown on the town's big screen.

The seven short features concentrate on the town's future and have been made by students at the University of Chichester.

They will receive their premieres at the Picturedrome Cinema in Bognor town centre at 11am on May 7. The venue has been made available free of charge by the cinema operator's managing director, Adam Cunard.

University lecturer Roy Hanney said: "Produced by second year media production students at the university, the films explore the ways in which the proposed regeneration of Bognor has benefited or changed the lives of local people.

"Students and staff involved with the project hope to stimulate debate about the regeneration and offer local people a voice."

Those featured in the films and the filmmakers will be present at the screening to answer questions. Representatives of the regeneration project will be there as well.

The films, officially titled the Regeneration of Bognor Regis, were commissioned from the university by the Bognor Regis Observer by Sussex Newspapers' chief editor, Colin Channon.
