Sun shines on hospital fete

The event ran from 1pm-4pm, with various stalls and a live band.

Stevie Burch, an ex-hospital worker, set up a stall at the fair selling homemade gifts.

“I used to work at the hospital and when I went on maternity leave, I set up this business,” she said.

“We donate our takings to the hospital, so it all goes to them. 
The fair is busy every year, which is good.”

There was also a Sussex Freemasons stall run by Bognor resident Steve Grubb.

The group had set up a TLC Appeal, where they donate teddies to the hospitals for children rushed into A&E – and Mr Grubb was fundraising for this appeal at the fair.

“We are selling keyrings and pins to raise money for the teddies,” he said.

“All the money raised buys these teddies. It is about helping others, it’s giving something back.

“Anything we raise is going back to the hospital at the end of the day.”

Anita Sturdey, of the Bognor Regis Friends of the Hospitals, said the total was around £4,500 to £5,000.

“It is down on last year, and we are slightly disappointed with the total this year being a jubilee year, but the support from the local community is invaluable and we are grateful to the people who attended,” she said.
