Sunflower squad brightens up town

VOLUNTEERS from the Lewes Little Gardens group joined forces with the 1st Lewes Priory Rainbow Group to plant sunflowers in the town.

The corner of Bell Lane and Winterbourne Lane was chosen as part of a national celebration for 50 years of Rainbows groups.

Ruth O'Keeffe, from Lewes Little Gardens, said: 'We hope that the sunflowers will grow well against the brick wall and flower to give seeds for the birds.'

Hilary White, leader of the 1st Lewes Priory Rainbows Group, said: 'It was great fun for the children, they have grown the plants from seed and we are looking forward to seeing the flowers.'
