Support local animal charity

Support us if you want your local RSPCA to continue - that's the message from chairman of Sussex East and Hastings branch Mary Bristow.

"People don't realise that all branches have to raise their own money," she told the Observer at the weekend during the autumn fundraising fair held at St Martha's church hall in Little Common.

"But if you want your local branch to continue we need your help."

She continued: "There is a tremendous influx of animals coming in and this is completely draining our finances...we take them in for so many reasons, marriage breakups, lack of accommodation, the recession, and so on.

"We have our own charity number (206314) so if there is anyone who wants to support animals locally and leave money, they must use our charity number.

"Meanwhile I would like to thank people for their support - but there are just so many animals, what do you do? At the end of the day it is all about the animals, and they cannot help themselves."
