Sussex Police People

From the end of the month, PCSO James Armstrong and his trusty camera can be seen at all the major Rother bonfire celebrations this season.

PCSO Armstrong will be recording the events for an ongoing Sussex Police online project.

Sussex Police People is a project designed to offer an up-close and personal view of policing directly from those doing the job, promoting new ways for the public to keep in touch with the force.

A number of officers from different backgrounds, locations and teams regularly update web logs, known as blogs, with stories from duties and personal lives.

Over the next few weeks Bexhill-based PCSO Armstrong, Rother district’s public engagement officer, whose job is to help Neighbourhood Policing Teams improve the ways in which police communicate and engage with Rother’s communities, will be ‘guest blogging’ about bonfire festivities at Battle, Rye, Staplecross and Robertsbridge.

PCSO Armstrong said: “During Rother district’s bonfire season, starting with Staplecross on October 27 and ending with Robertsbridge bonfire on November 17, I will be donning my full uniform, getting out and about with my colleagues and blogging about the part police have to play at these events.

“I’ll be giving you videos, photos and a bit of post event round up too all via my Tumblr blog (http://armstrong26455.tumblr.com) and the Sussex Police People section of our website (www.sussex.police.uk)

“I also plan to bring you up to date information and commentary on precessions and emergency service activity at these events via Rother’s Neighbourhood Policing Team Twitter accounts - @Battle_Police, @Rye_Police and mine @Armstrong26455.

“And photos via their Facebook pages (search Facebook for Battle or Rye Police’s pages) when able.

“If you see me out and about (I’ll be the one with a camera hung around my neck) say hello.

“You never know, you may get featured in my blog.”
