Talks about use for old museum

TALKS are being held about a possible new use for the former museum in Bognor Regis.

Arun District Council and Community Arts Bognor Regis are looking to showcase the work of local artists in the High Street building. It could also be used to host workshops and seminars.

A council spokeswoman said: “These discussions remain at a very early stage.

“Increasing the diversity and vibrancy of Bognor Regis Town Centre is something to which we are committed.

“We realise this isn’t just about new retail shops but ensuring there are facilities that cater for a wide mix of people.

“What we can guarantee is that we will continue to work with local people and groups - such as Community Arts Bognor Regis - to help bring greater diversity to Bognor Regis Town Centre and add to the cultural wealth of the town.”

The building at the western end of the High Street was last used in October 2010 when the museum was shut by the town’s local history society ready for the move to its current site in West Street.
