Tearoom raises thousands for charity

TWO local charities will be benefiting to the tune of £1,400 each thanks to a Christmas Draw held by Fletchers House tea rooms.

Macmillan Cancer Support is aiming to raise £3.7m to build a information and support centre for people affected by cancer across Sussex. Harriet Fairbrother, Sussex Fundraising Manager for Macmillan, collected the cheque on behalf of the charity.

A cheque for £1,400 was also presented to Dr Barry Yates for the Friends of Rye Nature Reserve.

Representatives from both charities were joined by local Councillor Mike Eve and his wife Madeline who were all treated to a full afternoon tea.

Pete Anderson of Fletchers would like to say a big thank you to all the local artists and businesses for their generous gifts for the draw, and thank customers and the locals for their loyal support.
