Teenagers arrested after Bognor field fire

Teenagers have been arrested after thatching straw was destroyed in Bognor Regis field fire.

Police have arrested four teenagers after £1,000 worth of straw used for thatching was destroyed during a field fire behind Chalcraft Lane.

The incident occurred around 8.45pm on Friday, May 6.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended the blaze and confirmed the fire had been deliberately ignited.

PC Trevor Burton said: “Arson is an extremely dangerous crime that can easily end tragically. Should anyone have information they should contact police immediately.”

The four boys from Bognor Regis, two aged 14 and two aged 15, have been arrested on suspicion of arson.

They were released on bail until Saturday, June 11 pending further enquiries.
