BINGO EVENING: Friday September 30, 6.45pm for 7pm start at the Civic Centre. Eight games played for £4, plus an additional Snowball (50p per single ticket) and Flyer game (£1 a sheet). Free cup of tea/coffee at half-time break. Proceeds to Mayor of Telscombe’s charity fund.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS: The Amenities Committee meet on Monday at 7.30pm. If there is insufficient business meetings may be cancelled. Please therefore telephone the Civic Centre on 01273 589777 to ensure that the meeting is being held. Meetings are open to members of the public who are able to ask questions for a 15 minute period at the start of each meeting. Meetings are held in Telscombe Civic Centre unless otherwise stated

FREE PSA TESTING: Free PSA testing by the Prostate Cancer Support Organisation will be carried out at Telscombe Civic Centre on Saturday November 19. It is essential to book an appointment time on 0845 650 2555 (local rate call cost).

FOOTNOTES: I always know when the schools have re-opened. The traffic in the morning increases dramatically, especially on the main road. Not having to report to any office in the morning, I try and avoid rush hours at both ends of the day, not wishing to add to the general misery of others. But sometimes I have to and this week found me trying to get to Brighton by 9am. I found the whole experience a nightmare. Although I did make it on time, the journey was traumatic, coping with road works, etc. What was interesting was the amount of vehicles seeping out from the feeder roads. These were obviously coming from the recently built developments in Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs. I was born and brought up in one of the most traffic clogged cities on the planet, London, so I am used to heavy traffic, but, like many other Londoners, I got to know the short cuts, and alternate routes available. My driving test for example included, Marble Arch, Hyde Park corner and Piccadilly Circus. But here on my journey this week, there were no alternate routes or short cuts. However, I eventually arrived at my meeting on time. Business concluded and I then enjoyed one of the benefits of living on this coastal strip. Driving home, with the seaward window down, on a now clear road, with the sun beaming down and the sweet smell of the sea in my nostrils. Have a good week, go safely and avoid the traffic.
