QUIZ NIGHT: Come along and enjoy this light-hearted quiz night. Teams of up to 6 at £2 per person. Bring your own food and drink. Each quiz is in aid of a different charity. Friday September 23 (in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support), Friday November 11 (in aid of Children in Need) in the Civic Centre.

VILLAGE CLUB: Telscombe Village Club (sub-committee) will meet on Monday at 7.30pm. Telscombe Village Club sub-committee meetings are held in the Telscombe Village Club.

FLY-TIPPING: Fly-tipping hot-spots are being targeted in a Lewes District Council campaign during the next three months. Hard-backed posters will be displayed beneath road signs and campaign messages will be posted on social media. Fly-tipping can be reported online via the district council’s website. FOOTNOTES: With some anxiety, I drove to Lewes station for the train to London this week, wondering whether I would get there, if the headlines were to be believed. All was well however and I was met at Victoria and driven to the studio I had to record in, and after some three hours recording, was driven back to Victoria, where I managed to get a seat on a train and arrived back at Lewes unscathed. Judging by some of the comments of my fellow passengers, who were regular commuters, I was very lucky. Travelling has never really bothered me. I have spent my life with a permanently packed suitcase always at the ready and a passport and travel documents near to hand. My worst experience was being told to get to Alicante airport by the following morning, having just arrived some thirty minutes before from New York. But then I was young and took it in my stride. I certainly couldn’t do it now. I came home to find my plum tree, had, for the first time in three years, suddenly become laden with ripe luscious Victoria plums. I spent the evening gorging on them, plump and sweet they were delicious. Have a good week.
