Ten schoolchildren trapped in lift
TEN schoolchildren were trapped in a lift at a railway station today (Friday).
Firefighters were called to Lewes to free them after the lift door jammed.
Steve Deacon, a firefighter from Lewes Fire Station, said: 'We arrived at around 8.36am and managed to release them after five minutes.
'I think they were disappointed because it meant they wouldn't miss school!
'We managed to get them out by isolating the power to the lift and manually pulling the door open.'
