The incredible sinking road at Midhurst

A GIANT basin is forming at the top of Rumbolds Hill in Midhurst as the road continues to sink.

The basin, which say drivers has grown and sunk deeper in the last fortnight, sits on the roundabout which links the busy A272 with the A286.

It is the first sign of growing problems on Rumbolds Hill for drivers travelling north. They then encounter a series of cracks in the Tarmac which are each becoming longer and beginning to sink.

Theories include ancient ditches, tunnels and hidden bank vaults.

West Sussex County Council says it is investigating the problem.
