Three arson attacks in the town centre

SHOREHAM firefighters tackled three separate arson attacks in the town centre over the weekend.

On Saturday, a large wheelie bin and two other piles of rubbish were deliberately set on fire outside Shoreham Library, in St Mary’s Road.

Shoreham firefighters were at the scene from 7.21pm to 7.42pm and put out the fire using a hosereel.

Crews were called back to the area at 8.48pm, when the fire alarm at Shoreham Health Centre, in Pond Road, was sounding.

Firefighters found a small fire at the back door and used buckets of water to put it out, remaining at the scene until 9.55pm.

On Sunday evening, arsonists set fire to newspaper in the main entrance to St Mary’s Church, in St Mary’s Road.

Again, buckets of water were used to put out the fire, with West Sussex Fire and Rescue on scene from 10.27pm to 10.41pm.
