Three-car collision

A man had to be rescued from the wreckage of a three-car collision which closed one of the main roads around Bognor Regis.

The man was released from one of the vehicles by firefighters using specialist cutting gear after they were called to the scene on the A259 Chichester Road just after 8am last Thursday.

He was taken to St Richard's Hospital by ambulance. Two other people were freed from their vehicles before the arrival of the fire crews from Bognor and Chichester. The firefighters were there for almost 45 minutes.

The crash occurred outside the Royal Oak pub. The road was closed by police to peak-time traffic while the remains of the vehicles were cleared and an investigation into the crash was begun.
