Ian Mitchell and Lee Norcott, joint landlords, pictured here with cellarmen Simon Wade and Jonny Fitton, received the certificate from Peter Adams, from CAMRA South East Branch.

The Good Beer Guide is seen as a bible by real ale drinkers. Pubs are only included on the recommendation of local CAMRA branch members.

Ian Mitchell said: “It is fantastic for us to be recognised for maintaining a benchmark standard for beer quality over all these years we have been at The Queens.

“We are all so enthusiastic about real ale and over the moon about the award.

“We’re all now looking forward to our annual mini beer festival, being held this year from October 23 - 27.”

The Queens Head serves at least six different real ales every day, some from far flung parts of the country but most from breweries in Sussex and the South East, including beers from Hastings, Rolvenden, Wilmington and Lewes, which were all on tap on the award night.
