TIP SITE RAID

Police investigating a number of burglaries in the Lewes district carried out a raid at the Crowborough civic amenity site and arrested a man and a woman.

A house was later searched in Uckfield and the arrested people taken to Eastbourne Police Station. They have been released on police bail until December 18.

As part of the same investigation Newhaven CID have charged a Peacehaven man with two counts of burglary and a driving offence.

Ian Beckett, aged 35, was charged with burglary in relation to offences at The Promenade, Peacehaven, and Alfriston Road, Seaford.

He was remanded in custody by Lewes Magistrates at a hearing on Monday, November 14. His next appearance will be on December 12.
