Upsy Daisy was taken from outside St Mary’s Church in Battle last Tuesday (July 2).

But following a Facebook appeal, eagle-eyed Busy Bee mum Cassie found the missing scarecrow in Crowhurst. One man later reported seeing some drunk youths carrying the scarecrow towards the station on Tuesday night. Upsy Daisy’s skirt and belt were found on the path between Marley Lane and the railway station.

Group leader Vikki Cook said: “Although this story had a happy ending thanks to vigilant mums, many children were still upset by her disappearance.”
