Tool theft hits hall construction

The burglary happened at Robertsbridge Community College in Knelle Road, where a new sports hall is currently being built.

Thieves broke into the site between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Wednesday September 25 and are believed to have spent almost an hour looking for items to steal before loading expensive power tools and cabling into a van before fleeing the scene.

PC Paul Munday, of Sussex Police, said: “The offenders spent almost an hour looking for items to steal and then putting them in their van.

“In total more than £4,000 worth of cable and tools were stolen and I am keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen the van being driven to or from the college at the time of the burglary.

“A large number of carpenters’ tools were stolen such as saws and nail guns that may be offered for sale.

“If you are offered power tools cheaply, think before you buy.

“If they are stolen we could seize them and you will not get your money back so please contact us instead.”

Sussex Police are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.
