Top attractions a finger away with new Arundel screens

HISTORIC splendour and modern marvels have united to help unveil Arundel’s hidden secrets for visitors to the town.

An innovative scheme has seen the introduction of several touchscreen tourism information hubs into some of the town’s stores.

The new tourism touchscreens, which use technology similar to that of iPhones, allow visitors to access a range of websites providing useful information about Arundel and the places to visit.

The information points can be used at three different venues in the town centre – the Grounds Coffee Shop and Out of the Blue Gifts, both in High Street, and Sparks RSVP and Quay House, Town Quay and River Road.

Visitors will be able to view the websites www.sussexbythesea.com and www.arundel.org.uk on the tourism touchscreen hubs.

They will be able to instantly access all the details about the area’s top attractions – from the castle and Wildfowl and Wetland Centre as well as events in the town, too.

Councillor Paul Dendle, Arun District Council’s cabinet member for environmental services who is responsible for tourism activity, said: “These new tourism touchscreens will enhance the excellent local tourist information already available in Arundel, at the museum and Visitor Information Point, and on the destination websites.

“Not only will they provide specific information about Arundel, but also the wide variety of things that are on offer, and stunning locations we have so close to the town, for people to extend their trips and holidays and enjoy more of Sussex-by-the-Sea.”

The screens have been introduced in Arundel thanks to a special collaboration between Arun District Council, which has helped fund the project, Arundel.org.uk, TRS-technology, Collabor8, Arundel Community Partnership and Arundel Visitor Strategy Group.

It is hoped the scheme could pave the way for the future of visitor information services in the area.
