Town Mayor opens new business in Little Common

Little Common gave a warm welcome to new business when Town Mayor Councillor Bridget George officially opened the impressive showrooms of Refurb and Ecofurb.

The spacious premises on the Little Common roundabout is home to innovative and ingenious must-have products and services offered by both companies which are run by business partners Darren Jackson and Karen Davis who have worked with their teams for months to be ready for the opening day at the weekend.

Karen said: "What we have tried to achieve is a showroom that is interactive and lets our customers come and see the products in situ. Obviously when manufacturers come up with products for the home they are frequently very large, and customers are forced to make big decisions about what to buy out of a brochure. What we want is for people to come here and touch and feel and try products out. We cover all aspects of living - the Refurb company is all about home improvement, exterior and interior, while Ecofurb UK Ltd has a strong emphasis on conservation, such as solar renewable energy, and eco and energy efficient products. A lot of the products from both companies cross over to the other as well, such as the energy efficient Internorm windows.

"This has been six months in the planning. The Refurb company was established about three and a half years ago - we were based in Pevensey Bay - and the Ecofurb company is our new venture, we started it last year and this is our official launch. It is very exciting, and we are just looking forward to the future now, because this is just the beginning."

The Town Mayor toasted the new showroom with champagne and told the Observer: "I think this is a wonderful new business venture to have within Bexhill. I had a sneak preview yesterday...and I found everybody very helpful and informative, and it is most interesting. It is nice to see everything you might require for the home in one place."

As a crowd of supporters, business contacts, staff and family gathered to celebrate, Darren commented: "I can't believe it's open after these months of hard work and sleepless nights. But it has been good - it has been challenging. The good thing is we have a fantastic team behind us, and it's all about teamwork."
