Town remembers

VETERANS surrounding the seafront war memorial on Sunday morning were urged to pass on their experiences to young people.

Members of youth organisations who had marched with them to the town's Remembrance Sunday ceremony were urged to listen.

The Rev Robert Coates' message to both as Royal British Legion chaplain was that in the quest for a peaceful future the lessons of the past should not be forgotten.

Newhaven Youth Marching Band had headed the column from Devonshire Square to Marina.

As flat-dwellers watched from overlooking balconies, the standards of youth organisations stood alongside of ex-service organisations while Bexhill Royal British Legion branch chairman Len Lawrence welcomed a large gathering which included town MP Gregory Barker.
