Town turninginto dumpingground

SO, WORTHING councillors are only now questioning why Worthing has become a dumping ground for various social inadequates.

Surely they know? For years now, much of what has been built within the town has been so-called affordable social housing, or perhaps private housing, but with a percentage of social housing included as a cosy arrangement.

If local councillors are honest, they should admit to being pretty much useless these days, side-lined as they are by West Sussex County Council, which in turn get their orders from the unelected government of the south east, and all chasing grants provided by you and me taxpayers.

What a sorry state of affairs, what is to be done? For a start, this council could refuse any additional housing, certainly until a bypass is built.

Then they should build their own council houses for genuine local people in need.

There is, perhaps, a need to question why these social inadequates have been housed in the expensive south east in the first place.
