TRAFFIC ALERT: Worthing traffic jammed following crash

TRAFFIC has come to a standstill in the town centre following a collision between a lorry and a moped.

The accident happened at around 12.30pm today (Tuesday) on the southbound side of North Street, Worthing.

Police are on the scene and the moped rider, thought to be a young man, has been taken to Worthing Hospital with minor facial injuries.

The road is closed on the southbound side from the roundabout at its junction with Chapel Road to the roundabout at the junction with Lyndhurst Road.

A fire crew from Worthing is also on scene, after being flagged down by a passer-by just minutes after the accident happened.

Traffic is backed-up over Broadwater Bridge down into Chapel Road, and traffic coming in the other direction is also moving very slowly.
