Trailblazer puts you back on track

It's tough out there - the recession has made life difficult for many people which is why Rother District Council and its partners are trying to help with an innovative advice scheme.

Working with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) and Citizens Advice Bureau, Rother is providing housing and benefit advice to the community.

The 200,000 Trailblazer bid ensures clients can receive a one-stop service for their housing, employment, training and benefits needs.

Free expert advice can be found at the Citizens Advice Bureau on money matters and staff can give guidance on clients' rights and responsibilities if they are uncertain about their finances.

Help is also available on how to look for jobs and training opportunities and, through the RBLI, advisors can provide a free service to advise people how to best lay out their CV and how to improve their interview technique.

The enhanced services operate from Bexhill Community Hub opposite the Town Hall in Bexhill, and from the new Tunbridge Wells Gateway.

Trailblazer advisor for the CAB Anne Murphy said: "This is a valuable opportunity for the CAB and Rother District Council to work together to provide a package of support with RBLI for local people, for Rother residents who are most in need of data and benefit advice."

Miles Richards from RBLI added: "The RBLI has been tasked with helping people to find and train for sustained employment."

The offices in Buckhurst Road are convenient for anyone in Bexhill but help is also available in rural areas via outreach sessions such as the Monday morning session in Battle at Rother District Help and Advice Centre on Monday mornings between 10-12noon, among others - to find out where they are call RDC on 01424 787878.
