Transport firm helps ‘Big Stig’ to Poland


Sussex Transport was called upon to transfer the giant Top Gear Stig across the south coast to Poland.
The top-secret operation quickly caused a social media frenzy, with reported sightings of ‘Big Stig’ popping up as the Lancing-based firm safely transported its cargo.

Hide AdJenny Guy, of Sussex Transport, said: “We are often asked to move unusual or abnormal loads such as hot tubs, valuable art sculptures, equipment for festivals, conferences, concerts, sporting events and exhibitions.
“So it came as no surprise to our Transport Team when we received an enquiry to move a large statue, and to keep the details confidential, in the run up to the job.”
Big Stig was created by BBC Worldwide to mark the launch of new global channel, BBC Brit, which launches in Poland on the 1st February.
The statue began its journey at the Top Gear track in Dunsfold, Surrey.

Hide AdIt travelled across Surrey, Kent and Sussex on a head turning journey before boarding a ferry in order to carry on its way through Holland, Germany and Poland where it was finally stood upright.
Jenny said: “Before we knew it, this statue was being tweeted about all over the world.
“The load we were moving was not just a statue, but in fact the statue of all statues – a 9 metre tall big Stig.
“We are very proud of our involvement with this movement and wish the new BBC Brit every success.”
