60 homes evacuated after car crashes into Burgess Hill house

Dozens of properties were evacuated after a car crashed into a house in Burgess Hill, causing a gas leak.

Police said they received a report of a car colliding with a house in Perryfields, Burgess Hill, around 6.50pm on Friday (April 23).

The incident caused a gas leak, and a cordon was put in place to ensure the safety of those in the vicinity.

Around 60 properties were temporarily evacuated while the area was made safe.

On Saturday morning (April 24), police confirmed all residents have now been allowed to return home and no injuries have been reported to police.

West Sussex Fire said two crews from Burgess Hill and the technical rescue unit were sent to the scene at 6.55pm.
