A259 collision involving motorbike in East Sussex; broken down bus cleared

A motorcyclist has been involved in a collision on the A259 in East Sussex.

According to traffic reports, A259 Marine Drive is partially blocked both ways at West Street after the collision in Rottingdean. Heavy traffic has been reported, with congestion towards Peacehaven.

‘Severe delays’ have been reported on A259 South Coast Road, westbound between The Highway and Highview Road.

Meanwhile, in Newhaven, there are further ‘severe delays’ on A259 Brighton Road, eastbound between the A259 and Church Hill. Average speed five mph.

It comes after a bus broke down on the A259, between Seaford and Newhaven. The vehicle has since been cleared from the road.

Elsewhere in East Sussex, a road closure is in place at Gatehouse Culvert, Underhill, Maresfield. East Sussex Highways said this is due to damage from recent flooding.

A spokesperson added: “Repair work will take place from spring onward when water levels allow us to carry out the necessary works.”
