According to traffic reports, there was a collision on the A259 Little Common Road westbound close to the Wheatsheaf Inn.
The queues as a result have been worsened due to temporary traffic lights around gas works near the Ravenside retail and leisure park.
An eyewitness said the westbound traffic is queuing back to St Leonards and taking approximately 15 minutes to pass the works.
