COUNTY NEWS: Railway services ‘at a standstill’ after man falls on track
Air ambulance paramedics and emergency services have rushed to West Worthing railway station after a man fell onto the tracks today.
At the moment trains on the Brighton-Portsmouth line are at a standstill, railway operators Southern said, while emergency services deal with the situation.

Hide AdA man is understood to have fallen from the platform and onto the tracks at the station. So far it’s not clear what the man’s injuries are.
However, in the past couple of minutes, witnesses reported seeing an air ambulance flying overhead and landing nearby.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said officers were on the scene but added that there was ‘no suggestion’ the man had been hit by a train.
He said: “We were called at 3.56pm to a report of a man on the tracks at West Worthing railway station. We have attended along with our colleagues from the ambulance services.

Hide Ad“It seems there is a man on the tracks. At the moment it seems he has fallen on the tracks accidentally.
“However, we are still trying to establish the exact details of the incident.”
A spokesman for Southern Rail said: “We don’t yet know what the circumstances surrounding the incident are.
“We have trains at a standstill in the area and we are organising replacement buses at the moment.”

Hide AdA statement on Southern Rail’s website said: “Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident at West Worthing, train services are currently unable to run between Shoreham and Angmering.”
Brighton & Hove buses accepting passengers between Brighton and Shoreham-by-Sea and Stagecoach Route 700 are accepting passengers between Brighton and Chichester.
