Gas main replacement to close Yapton road for 19 weeks
The second phase of essential gas main replacement work in Yapton is due to start on January 5 for about 19 weeks.
SGN is replacing the main at B2132 Bilsham Road.
The company said the road closure will mean no through vehicle access along Bilsham Road between the junctions
SGN said: “Resident access to properties within the closure will be maintained; local access arrangements will change as we progress, those affected will be kept informed of arrangements.

“Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained past the closure throughout the work programme
“Bus routes will be affected – we advise passengers to contact their service provider Stagecoach for the latest updates/changes to service
“Bin collection days will remain unchanged unless you are advised otherwise by your service provider.”
We're returning to complete essential gas main replacement work on Bilsham Road, Yapton Road and Burndell Road in Yapton.
The company started work on the mains in Yapton in November and it is due to continue until June next year.
"We'll be replacing the low-pressure gas mains on Yapton Road, Burndell Road, Bilsham Road, Graham Road, Bilsham Lane and adjoining side road connections,” a statement said. “The gas pipes being replaced are the pipes that feed gas supplies directly to local properties.
“These essential Health and Safety (HSE) mandated works involve the replacement of old metal gas pipes with new plastic pipes to ensure we can continue to provide residents with a safe and efficient gas supply and avoid gas leaks in the future.
“Due to the location of the pipe in the road and for everyone’s safety, we’ll need to have a temporary road closure in place.”
