Man dies and two injured in collision near East Grinstead

A car driver died and two other men were seriously injured in a two-car collision near East Grinstead.

At about 8.25pm on Friday, December 20, a collision involving two cars occurred on the A264 Holtye Road between East Grinstead and Tunbridge Wells.

A silver Peugeot 206 travelling west towards East Grinstead collided with a black Audi A3 travelling in the opposite direction, some 600 metres west of the road’s junction with Shovelstrode Lane.

A 23-year-old man from Kent who was driving the Peugeot sadly died of his injuries at the scene. Two men in the Audi, both aged 21 and both from East Grinstead, were taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The A264 was closed for several hours while emergency services were in attendance and police have thanked the public for their patience.
