Hide AdSteve White, GTR’s chief operating officer, said: “These additional trains will help provide more space on board by adding more capacity on our busier routes.”
Steve said social distancing will become more challenging as more people use trains again and he advised travellers to use online journey planners to avoid busy services.
People can see the new ‘live maps’ service at www.southernrailway.com or visit www.nationalrail.co.uk.
Passengers must wear face coverings unless they are exempt.
GTR’s modern trains have air conditioning that frequently replaces the air in each carriage and GTR sanitises all 2,700 of its train carriages every night.
