Planned road closures announced across Arun district for resurfacing works

Arun district residents are being advised to prepare for a series of temporary road closures.

These are part of scheduled carriageway microsurfacing works, taking place in late April.

According to a notice issued by West Sussex Highways, several roads in the Arun District will be affected at different times between Wednesday, April 22 and Thursday, April 30, with works typically scheduled during daytime hours.

The programme forms part of ongoing maintenance aimed at improving road surfaces and long-term driving conditions.

North Lane in East Preston will follow, with closures from April 26 to 30 covering the stretch between Golden Avenue and The Street, under similar daytime working hours.

Also in East Preston, Willowhayne Crescent will be closed from April 23 to 27, between The Parade and Sea Road, with works scheduled from 8am to 6pm.

In Slindon, Meadsway will be affected from April 23 to 27, with works running between Reynolds Road and the end of the road, operating mainly 9.30am to 2.30pm, with extended Sunday hours.

In Bersted, two locations will be impacted. The A29 will be resurfaced between April 22 and 26, with works running 8am to 6pm. Nearby, Romney Broadwalk will also be closed over the same period, between Fairlands and the end of the road.

Motorists are being urged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow diversion routes while works are in progress. Access may be maintained for residents where possible, but delays are expected during active working hours.

The council says the improvements are part of routine maintenance designed to extend the lifespan of local roads and improve safety for drivers and pedestrians.
