A section of the A23 was blocked in Mid Sussex today (Saturday, October 24), following a report of a crash involving a car and a van.

Photos were sent to this newspaper showing a van on its side with a fire engine, police cars and ambulances at the scene.

AA Traffic News at www.theaa.com/route-planner/traffic-news said the incident was first reported at 11am.

The note on the live map said: “Road blocked and queueing traffic due to accident, a van and a car involved on A23 Southbound after B2118 Mill Lane (Hurstpierpoint / Sayers Common Turn Off). Congestion to Hickstead.”
